What is marriage registration?

• For marriage celebrated in the Town Hall (celebrated by the Mayor or Councilor delegated): The marriage certificate will be sent to the Civil Registry of the place where the marriage was celebrated, being the Civil Registry who performs the registration and extends the Book of Family.

Marriages celebrated abroad when at least one of the contracting parties holds Spanish nationality or acquires it after the celebration of the marriage:

• For registration of canonical marriage: Presentation of the ecclesiastical certification that will express the circumstances required by the legislation. Birth certificate of the Spanish spouse or of the naturalized spouse, issued by the Spanish Civil Registry. Birth certificate of the foreign spouse. DNI of the Spanish citizen. Proof of domicile of the promoter in Spain. Data declaration sheet.

• For civil marriage registration: Marriage certificate issued by the foreign local Civil Registry. Birth certificate of the Spanish spouse or of the naturalized spouse, issued by the Spanish Civil Registry. Birth certificate of the foreign spouse. DNI of the Spanish citizen. Proof of domicile of the promoter in Spain. Data declaration sheet.

Where to register marriage in Spain?

In the Civil Registry where the marriage was celebrated or the Central Civil Registry in the event of a marriage celebrated abroad when at least one of the spouses holds Spanish nationality or acquires it after the celebration of the marriage.
